Artist Statement
I am an artist working in Seoul, South Korea. I work mainly with a pen and ink, and I use several layers of lines to express the weight of the art with the lines of the pen.
The story of these works begins as a man suddenly begins to perceive death one day. Death begins and ends with all life, but we do not want to think about death for many reasons. I am afraid to face death, but I thought that a serious thought about death is the easiest way to confront the true self, and death is a stimulus that will awaken the finitude of life and make it more faithful to the present life.
So, I visualized the death, and I selected the crow as a main material for my work. I hope that through the artworks that symbolize this death, it becomes a chance to realize that death is not the end of life but it is a part of nature.
