Artist Biography

Lollie Ortiz, an imaginative, award-winning artist, has a love of laughter and curiosity that emanates from everything she touches. Her artistic journey began in grade school where she enjoyed working with anything colorful and messy. “Free expression” soon gave way to pursing an art degree from City College of San Francisco. The Los Angeles School of Design offered additional exploration and presentation in the purest form of creative expression.

Developing a professional career, Lollie slowly advanced from freelance assignments to the role of creative director for her own advertising-film production company. Lollie’s experience and skills were also commissioned by entertainment clients such as ABC, CBS, NBC, The Travel Channel, HBO and Disney (Consumer Products). Marketing clients included MediaBook Advertising, Inc., Max Factor Cosmetics as well promo campaigns for a special U.S. Olympics print project.

Combining her passion for pop-art and abstraction, Lollie is making her own statements in experimental mix-media and sculptural art. Her past artistic credits consist of several exhibits, competitions and book published photo works dating from 2008 to 2019 with a break in between to sign and work as “Senior Talent” with a well established San Francisco Film and TV Talent Agency.

Lollie’s most recent exhibit was presented by the San Rafael Marin Society of Artists “Sea to Shinny Sea – What Connects Us” Group Show from September 12, 2019 to October 5, 2019. Her sculptural motion design entry “Rainbow Sneakers” also received an Award of Recognition.

Artist Statement

As the “dreamer” of the family, I thank my lucky stars for having the determination to indulge in my curious nature and follow my destiny in full color. Embracing further the process of discovery and artistic growth eventually led to a lustrous career as a designer for both the corporate and entertainment industries.

Stepping beyond career success into my senior years, I began showcasing my personal works in graphic design, fine art and photography. Recognition and awards highlighted this journey with a diverse selection of exhibits and competitions. Then to my surprise I decided to upstage myself by changing direction as a sculptural artist. The longing to work “hands-on” with unknown materials reunited with my youthful passion for new challenges and what’s possible once again.

The path forward is set by browsing for recycle and acrylic materials at various resource centers. At the same time a creative direction emerges with admiration for Andy Warhol’s work. The intensity of his collective body inspires me as a rich source of creative texture, especially within the pop art world. Artist Mattia Bonetti’s creativity is also considered limitless and resonates as well with my “whimsical side” and love of abstract concepts. Working from notebook sketches to mock-ups, the idea of blending underlying themes of “personal or spiritual empowerment” is the true essences of what I hope to achieve artistically. And with a style of sculptural expression I look forward to sharing with hearts and minds of all ages.
