Hayley Haddad- Artist Spotlight Solo Exhibition

Hayley Haddad is the Traditional Artist Spotlight winning artist for the month of November 2017. She is a Memphis, Tennessee, based artist. Fueled by her interest in history, her recent work depicts imaginary, or even dreamlike, cityscapes that portray a dynamic continuance of time. The compulsive layering and building of the imagery and narrative within the scenes is what the artist finds most satisfying about her work. This highly involved process of construction and elimination and reconstruction allows for an almost meditative exploration of the materials within the drawings and the creative process.

Hayley’s Solo Art Exhibition will be featured on the website for the month of November 2017. The gallery will promote Hayley and her work on the Fusion Art website, individual online press releases to hundreds of outlets, email blasts, in online event calendars, art news websites and through the gallery’s extensive social media outlets. Fusion Art’s objective is to promote the Artist Spotlight winning artists, worldwide, to art professionals, gallerists, collectors and buyers.

Hayley Haddad Biography

Hayley Haddad is a Memphis based artist. She studied drawing at Memphis College of Art and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art History. While at MCA, Haddad received the Excellence in Drawing Award (2009) and her work was displayed in Memphis College of Art’s Online Alumni Gallery in the following categories: drawing, painting, printmaking, and foundations (2013-2015.) The artist’s drawings were also featured in Memphis College of Art’s catalog (2013-2015.) Recently, Haddad received Third Place recognition in Contemporary Art Gallery Online’s ‘All Landscapes’ Competition, mixed media category, and Gallery Choice in CAOG’s ‘All Cityscapes’ Competition, mixed media category; her work is currently exhibited in CAOG’s online exhibition winners’ gallery. In addition to being featured in Creative Outlook Magazine as the second place winner of the Creative Outlook Cover Contest, Haddad’s work is also pictured on the cover of Art Ascent Art and Literature Magazine (October 2017 V27) with additional drawings featured in the Distinguished Artists section. Earlier this year, Haddad was named a finalist in Artist’s Magazine’s 34th Annual Art Competition, Landscape Category, to be listed in the Jan/Feb issue. Hayley Haddad Artist Statement

Every place has a history, a continuous lexicon of experiences and occurrences archived in the landscape. History is merely representative of the past as it only constitutes recorded instants in time. In contrast, the past encompasses the totality of life that goes by unnoticed. Not all events of the past leave an evidentiary trace, and just as some locations evolve and transform as time progresses, others erode and fade, leaving only memories filtered by a range of perspectives to account for the array of life that happened there.

In my drawings, I am exploring the concept of history as a synthesis of the past and present, in which multiple vantage points of numerous incidents are juxtaposed in a single visual expanse. The large scale drawings depict detailed environments overloaded with imagery embedded in the landscape. Multitudinous viewpoints are perceived as the viewer excavates the layers within the thematic montage of places, architecture, events, and culture. The result is a multifaceted ephemeral panorama that meanders through space, time, and history.

The collages are comprised of a combination of printed images and found photographs seamlessly melded with pen, ink wash, and transfer techniques. The images are compulsively superimposed, rendering dynamic scenes that traverse elements of the past, present, and future.
