Catherine Palmer

Grove and Masonic
Oil on Canvas, 48″ x 36″, $2000

Catherine began observing the changing light in San Francisco from her window. Now she travels around to different parts of the city observing the play of the light and shadows on the varying architecture structures.

Her studio is in San Francisco, where she gets her inspiration and exhibits her work at Hang Art Gallery.  From her studio she can watch the light change through the day, creating shadows on houses, building, and hillsides. She is captivated by the patterns the structures create on the hillsides and the shadows produced as the light changes directions. The color of the light and the deep shadows bring an area to life and make one take notice. That is why people like to watch the sun set or the sun rise; it is the drama of the light and the dark meeting.

Catherine completed her art education at UC Berkeley, but her art interests started while living in Europe as a young child, where she was surrounded by art, music and architecture.

 Digital Art & Photography

Richard Greene

Sunset Blvd
Photograph, 16 x 20″, $500

Richard Greene brings to photography a unique personal history. As a trained classical violinist and Bluegrass Fiddle Master his career as a touring musician, recording artist and educator spanned non-stop from 1960 to 2013. Starting as a young teenager he has been obsessed with photography all of his life, from bathroom/darkroom 2¼ x 2¼ black and white and color film to today’s digital revolution. Richard’s 4 primary musical goals have always been expression, innovation, technique and composition. In applying exactly these same 4 intentions to his photography he finds that musical and photographic composition are quite the same; both depend entirely on the artistic placement of available or sometimes imaginary elements. The creation of both music and photography starts before using the instrument; both start with seeing.
