Dionne Ho
“A Hunter’s Glare”

Dionne is a self-taught watercolor artist based in Singapore, who started painting out of the blue in April 2014, specializing in realistic wildlife and pet portrait paintings. She is a Veterinary Technician by day who was looking for a hobby to de-stress when she decided to try painting, which she used to love as a child. Dionne picked watercolor as her medium as she has always been deeply fascinated by the movement of water. In addition, and most importantly, she wanted a hobby that would keep her engaged for a very long time, so watercolor was perfect as it is reputed to be one of the most difficult mediums to master. She welcomed the challenge with open arms, first by accepting requests from friends to paint their favorite objects including a gerbera, and then a Golden Eagle,. During this time she discovered that her forte was in detailed realistic painting. Dionne has not attended any art or painting classes to date, yet she would soon discover that every painting she embarked on had many lessons to teach her in terms of how to improve her techniques.
With her new skill in hand, Dionne realized that she could use her art to help raise awareness for the conservation of wild cats. In September 2014, she obtained permission to use photos of the wild cat residents of a wild cat sanctuary in Florida and her first wild cat painting of the elusive Sand Cat was completed in December 2014. Between December 2014 and December 2015, Dionne completed a total of 35 detailed realistic paintings, consisting of various species of wild cats and commissioned pet portraits. She is definitely looking forward to many more fulfilling years of painting to come!

Using her eye for composition and her love for vibrant colors & textures, Jean allows her imagination to put together a different expression to what she sees. Work begins with Jean’s photography which has been taken on her travels around the world as well as the beauty she sees at home. She uses these photos as a template and digitally enhances each photo using state of the art software to create a fine art rendering of what she sees. She has also begun producing her original work on different print mediums such as aluminum, acrylic, canvas, tumbled stone, glass, ceramic, resin coating as well as specialty papers. All of these different mediums give a dramatically different texture and impression to her visions.
