Diane Farquhar lives on a small farm near Eugene, Oregon. Her home environs as well as the landscapes and experiences that she encounters during travel in the U.S. and abroad provide her with a wealth of inspiration. Her art interests are primarily experimental, abstract and abstract realism. Diane paints in acrylic, oil and watercolor, experimenting with the full array of paints, mediums, techniques and tools available to contemporary artists. She loves to explore the elements of color, form, linear quality, light and abstraction with the goal of adding drama, depth, texture, and a sense of movement to the images she creates. She is often pleasantly surprised when her explorations reveal a hidden treasure.

Kathleen Greenwood’s digital art represents her interpretation of conventional & non-conventional subjects and can be reality or fantasy based. Her workflow is not necessarily traditional or structured the same way for each design but each piece starts with a base subject, then moves to the manipulation of textures, lighting or color and ends with post processing. Kathleen’s current body of work includes florals, landscapes, fantasy, abstract designs and portraits. Kathleen is self taught, attends local and out of state workshops in different mediums and has exhibited in professional juried exhibits & fine art shows. She was recently published in the Living the Photo Artistic Life Magazine & the GSP online magazine in collaboration with Gabriel Olude international photographer. Although her major interest at this time is digital art, she continues to stay involved with traditional art and will be focusing on combining digital & traditional art in some form. Tara Merkt is a native of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Merkt works predominately in scratchboard art; a 2-dimensional, subtractive medium that involves the use of abrasive tools to directly remove a surface layer of one value (typically dark) to expose a secondary layer of a contrasting value (typically white). She is currently an active member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. Merkt trained at the University of Minnesota (Studio Arts BA – 2000) and the University of Wisconsin (Masters of Art Therapy – 2003). She recently placed in the top 14, of over 1300+ entries, in the Shades of Grey international art competition for Drawing magazine. Her piece “Eye of the Beholder” is published in the Spring 2017 issue of Drawing magazine.

Growing up in an artist’s home, Barbara learned to paint a variety of subjects, from expressive faces to mood inspired seascapes and landscapes. She is constantly challenging herself to depict the essence of human nature in her art. To Barbara, art allows communication without words. She hopes her paintings spark emotion for the viewer.

With one photography class in High School and one in College, I consider myself mostly self-taught. I spent years as an outdoor photographer using ambient light and what my surroundings had to offer. My move north, 10 years ago, forced me to begin working indoors at least part of the year. Studio photography has been a huge challenge for me in both composition and lighting. It took a while for me to realize I could move my light!!!

Combining the subject seen through my eyes to the abstract/impressionism created by my emotion and expression, I try to show beauty and strength in relations to the subject’s surroundings. The paintings can also stand alone, each on their own telling their individual story to the viewer. My abstracts tend to be simplistic in order for the audience to be inspired by the colors and movements and linear objects within the paintings.

Observing and interpreting life via the camera lens or the pen has been a preoccupation of visual artist Tony Lopes for more than two decades. His keen observational skills are evident whether creating his distinctive fine art landscape photographs or producing images for commercial clients or magazines. They are also the driving force behind his popular comic strip Insanity Streak, through which he has illuminated the funny side of life for more than 15 years.

Born in 1975, Tony’s first experience with a camera was as an 18-year-old fine arts student, when he learnt the traditional darkroom techniques of film developing and printing. This formed the foundation of his understanding of light and composition. Tony honed his skills as a wedding photographer for leading Sydney portrait studios, Divinity and Photografos, and later started his own photographic business. Since 2007, he has photographed many of Australia’s leading visual artists for Artist Profile magazine.

His passion for landscape photography gained momentum when he bought a house on the NSW South Coast. This beautiful coastal setting provides the subject matter for much of his fine art photographs, including many he supplies to one of Australia’s largest publishers and distributors of greeting cards and calendars, For Arts Sake. Tony’s passion for photography is as strong today as it was when he saw his first image come to life in the developing tray at art school. Now, however, he has embraced the possibilities of digital technology. “One of the thrills of working in photography is that each day is a new opportunity to learn,” Tony says. “I never stop trying to improve and learn as an artist. It’s a privilege to do what you love every day.”

Juvy was born in 1979 on a tiny island in the Philippines where she spent most of her time swimming in the ocean, diving for corals with her cousins or fishing with her beloved grandmother. While attending high school in the Philippines, her teacher recognized her artistic talents and encouraged her to participate the school drawing competition where she placed 2nd best overall. Shortly after that, her family migrated to Canada. She transferred to a high school in St. Catharines and during her final year, she developed an interest in fashion design. She was accepted at Fanshawe College for Fashion Design, but did not pursue it. She worked for the family business and saved money for school. She took some refresher courses to prepare for College. She was offered a scholarship at Niagara College and pursued a career in the legal field.

After receiving her Law Clerk diploma, she began working as a legal assistant in Niagara Falls. Though she worked full time and was given much responsibility, art was never far from her mind. She took an online course and successfully earned her photography diploma. She traveled around the world to practice her photography skills. She is currently working as a law clerk for a law firm in Mississauga. She lives in Georgetown and took great pride in designing the whole interior of her home. Wanting to put her own personal touches on the home, she started painting. Her family and friends admired her talent. With such personal encouragement for creating beauty, which inspired the hearts of many people, she takes great pleasure in creating more new work.
