Lori Mills

Lori Mills is a Malibu fine art oil painter and native Southern Californian. Lori has been hiking and painting the Santa Monica Area mountains and beaches since she was thirteen years old. Trained at the San Francisco Art Institute, Lori admires the creative impulses of Vincent Van Gogh. She admires the emotion and the bold use of brush stroke and color found in Van Gogh’s works. Lori’s works are highly personal and she uses a palette knife instead of a paintbrush almost exclusively in her plein air oil paintings.

Lori is inspired by her home on the ocean, the mining of deep emotion, and the constant re-birth and renewal of the colors of nature in Southern California.

Amelia Johannsen

My ceramic art and sculptures celebrate the rivers and temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest where I grew up. They examine the beaches and rolling hills of the Mediterranean Coastline that I now call home. Nature’s grace has had a profound impact on me. The destructive conflicts between nature and humanity inspire me to communicate the importance of preserving our natural environment.

Clay provides the ideal playground for conceptual and inner exploration. The combination of textures, colors, glazing and firing methods allow me to connect with my art on a sensorial and meditative level. Ideas and feelings are shaped into pieces simultaneously reflecting my memories, interests and hopes.
