Wildlife artist Lori Dunn is one of Canada’s foremost scratchboard artists. After earning a degree in zoology, she spent many years as a zookeeper and naturalist. These years of experience gave her a deep appreciation for the need to protect habitat and endangered species.
Lori resumed the artistic endeavours she started as a child, finding a way to combine her artistic ability and her desire to conserve nature. Most of her artworks are accompanied by a narrative serving to educate others on the conservation status of the species and its importance to our environment.
The medium of scratchboard allows for incredible detail and quality of light in the black and white image. Using only the tip of a surgical, or xacto blade, every line is meticulously etched into a white clay layer coated with black ink.
Lori Dunn's scratchboard artworks have garnered National and international recognition. She is a signature member of The Society of Animal Artists, and has achieved her master title from the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. Many of her works have been exhibited in museums and galleries across North America.
Lori works from her home studio in Norwood, Ontario, Canada. Please visit Lori's website if you are interested in seeing more of her work.

After 25 years as a writer, producer and director of filmed entertainment, primarily for television, Harry Longstreet embarked on his second career as a photographer. Based in Washington State, Harry is always looking for images that speak to the human condition and the world around us. He favors ambient light and un-posed… unaware subjects.
No one just takes up space. The human condition is an entire canvas of thoughts, emotions and reactions to circumstances. In Harry’s photography, he tries to capture the truth about diverse people and how they live and reflect their respective spaces. His subjects never know they have been photographed. He doesn’t set-up or pose any shot and never shoots with anything but available light.
In the last ten years, he has had a number of one-man shows and his work has appeared in more than two hundred national and international juried exhibitions. Harry is twice a Single Image Merit Award recipient from Black & White Magazine and twice a Single Image Merit Award winner from Color Magazine. In 2013, he was awarded the Gold Medal (monochrome) in the International Varna Salon, and in 2014, he took Best in Show in the annual CVG Washington State competition.
When he is not busy with his wife, children and grandchildren, Harry keeps the creative juices flowing with his still photography.
Please visit Harry's website if you are interested in purchasing this award winning piece or if you would like to see more of his work.

I'm Marina Joy, a twenty year old self taught visual artist from the U.S. As a portrait artist, I strive to create art that is visually interesting, captures reflections and has many facets to the piece. Designs with a mixture of bright colors or shadows of surroundings, give a diverse outlook on beauty of the human form. This point of view explores the balance between reality and fantasy. through the contrast of black/white and color.
I love to use a variety and experiment with new media in each project while keeping a consistent theme of graphite and pencils. My process consists of layering a variety of mediums.
This piece "Inner Reflection" was referenced from photographer: Nicola J.
-Her reflection shows not just her face, but her heart: shattered.

I briefly attended the Cleveland Institute of Art (1992-1993) but found hanging out at the Euclid Tavern and the Cleveland Museum of Art much more educational. Music And Art have been a constant force in moving my life forward. Although the past is a constant reminder of promises forgotten. I now make good on the little lies that get me through the night. The reinventing of the dream-self on every new morning. The doorway between the conscious self and the subconscious ideal has been left open. What remains of the journey lies in paint. My Style is subjective to the viewers preconceptions. I am a figure artist. The rest is up for interpretation. The artistic influences on my paintings are quite varied. I am most influenced by the Symbolist. Which turned into the modern Illustration movement. Everyone from Klimt to Schiele from Bacon and Auerbach to Frazetta and Giger. All my idols are dead. It is my time to start a new generation of dreamers. All my work is for sale. I am sick of being a slave to my alarm clock.

My Name is Alexandrino Lei Airosa (Dino). I’m a Hotelier. Photography is my passion. It has become more than a hobby and is now a business too. Photography changed my life. I travel more. I see more and I experience more. And when I encounter those people living below the standards, it make me cherish what I having now: family, health and a job. It makes me more humble to see these things.

I have been painting for one and a half years, self-taught. After a lengthy recovery after spinal surgery and fighting bacteria in my lungs I discovered painting as a form of therapy! I cannot imagine my life without it and I don't know what I was doing before it! I believe art healed me!

McLaughlin is best known for his powerful, rough paintings built through an intensive working of dozens of layers of paint, pigments, and cold wax medium, along with additives like earth, sand, and wood ash. His highly textured, minimalist works are informed by the urban world of concrete, asphalt, and steel, as well as by the decay, erosion, and weathering of that environment. At times austere in its minimalism, his work is intimate in its detailed textures, which invite close examination.
McLaughlin begins his paintings with a dissonance of visual commotion—color, words, numbers, and symbols—a chaos of recognizable things. But gradually, as the layers of complex texture evolve, he obscures them. Layer-by-layer, he quiets them. In the end, there are only hushed reverberations of any prior noise, silenced by his neutrally-toned, textured surfaces.
Though McLaughlin is now a full time abstract artist, he initially trained as a pediatric critical care physician, an influence still quite palpable in his work. He teaches extensively, across the US and abroad. In 2017, he co-authored the first ever comprehensive book on cold wax medium, Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations. He lives in Oakland, California.

Dylan Eakin began training himself in a photorealistic style of drawing in 2016 as an exploration of the limitations of medium. He soon began to appreciate the importance of the relationship between photography, the craft of drawing, and the mechanical human form, the perfection of which required endless pursuit.
